Inclusion, Respect & Community Etiquette
Everyone Is Welcome
We welcome people of every age, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, caste, citizenship or immigration status, religion or creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, neurotype, marital or parental status, pregnancy status or outcome, political ideology, military or veteran status, and socioeconomic background.
Discrimination or harassment based on a person’s identity, appearance, body, background, ability, or life circumstances is not consistent with the values of this community.
Community Etiquette
A shared building works best when we remain aware of how our actions affect the people around us.
We ask directory members, clients, and visitors to:
Treat others with courtesy and respect.
Respect names, pronouns, identities, cultures, and personal boundaries.
Avoid discriminatory jokes, slurs, stereotypes, or demeaning comments.
Ask before touching another person, their belongings, mobility equipment, or service animal.
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of clients and neighboring businesses.
Keep shared entrances, hallways, elevators, and accessible routes clear.
Be mindful of noise, scents, and other activities that may affect nearby businesses.
Do not photograph or record people without their permission.
Do not enter private offices or studios without invitation.
Avoid aggressive solicitation, unwanted promotion, or pressure to purchase services.
Communicate concerns directly and respectfully when it is safe to do so.
Remain open to correction when someone explains that an action or comment has caused harm.
Intent matters, but impact matters as well.
A respectful response to a mistake includes listening, acknowledging its effect, making a sincere repair, and changing the behavior.
Our purpose is simple: to help create a community in which people can work, visit, seek care, share their talents, and conduct business without being diminished or excluded because of who they are.
